For my final project, I decided to draw a dragonfly. I love dragonflies because they always seem to follow me around when I'm outside and they're very pretty (for a bug). Then painted it with watercolor. This was a fun project to do and I really like how I made it all inside of a circle.
Lino Cut
For this project, we had to carve a design that expressed an emotion into a square. The square was kind of like an eraser type of texture. For my practice, I made a sun. And then for my actual project, I made it have two different emotions: happiness and sadness. I drew a squiggly line in the middle to divide it up. This was a fun project to do.
Juxtaposition
For this project, I decided to draw a hyena. We had to draw our animal and the background with pencil first. Then we had to draw it on watercolor paper and then paint it. I mixed light brown, yellow, white, and dark brown together for my hyena and the ground around it. I had fun with this project.
Aluminum
For this project, we had to have a 3x3 inch square of aluminum from a soda can. I used a root beer can. Then we taped it onto the a 9x9 square of cardboard. I didn't know what to make, so I made a bunch of scribbles, and it turned out pretty good. Then I made lines of each color diagonal across the board. I made the colors on the cardboard with colored pencil, and I made the colors on the aluminum with markers. It was a pretty easy project and I finished it fast.
3D Printing
This was a really fun project to do. At first we had to make a practice object so I made a little character with a mustache. Then I decided to make a crayon box. I made the box on Tinkercad. It wasn't hard to make it, but the lid was hard to make. I had to make it two times because the first lid I made fit the box too tight and it was way too hard to get on and off. But then I made another lid that was a lot looser.
Shoes
For my final project of the semester, I wanted to paint shoes. At first, I made the blue way too dark so I added a coat of white over the blue. Then I drew butterflies in pencil and made them purple and white. I also outlined them in black paint. Then I put about 3 coats of sealer over them. I really like how they turned out and it was super fun to make! Plus I can even wear them.
Abstract Plaster
I've never worked with plaster before, but I really liked it! It is supposed to represent happiness. It looks like a tree and it's branches are going up which represents positivity. It's also yellow which is a happy color. I also added grass and flowers which are outside and everyone usually thinks of the outdoors as a peaceful and happy place.
Portrait
I tried to draw my friend, Katrina. It doesn't look exactly like her, but I tried to get it as good as I could. The picture I chose is one of our favorites because I took it after we were playing tennis with another friend and she always makes that gesture with her hand in pictures so it was perfect. It was hard shading her face though. I used an HB pencil for the whole project and it seemed to work best for me. I had a lot of fun drawing it though.
Watercolor
This project was very fun. First, I drew my dog on paper. Then I added the background. Then I stretched my paper in water and then started using the watercolors on the backgrounds. Then I painted my dog. I had a lot of fun drawing and painting her because she has a lot of different color patterns on her.
Sketch Book
Our first project was to make a Japanese Stab sketch book. I chose hearts and they were kind of hard in the beginning, but I eventually got the hang of it. We used fabric, big needles, paper, paint, and yarn.
