I have enjoyed being in art for the past three years of high school! For my last project, I decided to draw my grandma's dog, Charlie. I have never drew a dog with details before so I was excited for the challenge. I think that I did pretty good on it. I used an HB pencil on it and for the orange spots on him, I did dark small circles. For the nose, I did a lot of dots for the nose to get the texture. I really like this project because it actually looks like the real dog.
Social Issue Project
For this project, I decided to make an orphanage. It has silhouettes of children in the windows of the building looking out at the silhouette of the family outside. We stretched our canvases and painted out them in acrylic paint. I really liked how we pretty much made our own canvases so it was more exciting to step back and see our projects and realize that we made the WHOLE thing.
Culture Project
For my culture project, I made a Persian rug. I did this with a punch needle. I practiced with a flower first and I decided that the rug would be easy and quick too. It was not. I took this project everywhere to work on it. I even brought it on our Educators Rising field trip. It took a long time but it was very exciting to see the progress I created when I looked at it each time. I cut the extra fabric off to finish the project. I really liked this project a lot and it seemed like something I would not have done without doing this project.
Silk Screen
For this project, we made a design for a t-shirt. I decided to do mine as a line drawing of a girl with scoliosis. First we drew our design and then printed it. Then we printed it on acetate. Next we put photo emulsion our screens and put them in the closet for a day so that no light could get to it. Then we put the screen and the acetate copy in the light exposing box for 8 minutes. We got it out of there and washed the extra emulsion off. Then we put the screen with the design on it on a board and put ink on it. We flooded the screen before every print and then printed it with the ink. This was a fun project!
Final
For this project, I decided to draw a little girl that I know because she's always wanted me to draw her and I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for that. I've always wanted to get good at drawing realistic people so that is why I chose to do this for my final project. I think that I did good for the proportions of her face compared to past portraits that I've done. Adding the colors on it was a little challenging because I had to shade the nose with the color, and not just draw it. This is definitely my favorite portrait that I've done so far though.
Digital Art
We made Mickey for practice. And for the actual project, I wanted it to be about a girl who didn't know what was happening. The boy was actually talking to two other girls, but he was making Faith think that she was the only one. Also his mom thought that Faith was the only one too. I really liked this project! I've never done digital art before, but I would gladly do it again. The Mickey Mouse practice was good to get me used to going over the shapes and getting them to look exactly like the original.
Fauvism Oil Pastels
For this project, we had to make our projects align with fauvism. I wanted to draw my cousin, Kylee. I think that it kind of looks like her, but it was hard to get the shading right on her face since it all had to be bright colors.
Charcoal
I decided that I wanted to draw a plant with charcoal. I had a problem drawing out the plant at first, but I finally got it. This was my first time working with charcoal and it was kind of hard to get the shading right.
Sketchbook
For our first project, we made sketchbooks. I made mine have an ocean cover. I colored the end pages with pastels and the colors faded into each other.
